Dr. Charytan currently serves as the Director, ICU Nephrology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Harvard Medical School. Dr. Charytan’s major focus concerns utilization rates and outcomes of interventional and medical therapies for cardiovascular disease in the setting of chronic kidney disease as well as the contribution of microvascular disease to cardiovascular death in the setting of impaired kidney function. As a PI on several foundation and NIH-funded grants, his prior studies have highlighted concerns related to the use of standard therapy for coronary disease in the setting of chronic kidney disease. Dr. Charytan also has extensive experience using various techniques to analyze administrative data sources related to cardiovascular therapeutics.
