Kevin Bainey is an Interventional Cardiologist with a medical staff appointment at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute (MAHI) at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. He is also an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Alberta, and a Faculty member of the Canadian VIGOUR Centre (Virtual Coordinating Centre for Global Collaborative Cardiovascular Research). Dr. Bainey is Director of the Adult Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Cardiology Laboratory at the MAHI and the Director of the ECG Core Laboratory at the Canadian VIGOUR Centre, University of Alberta. Dr. Bainey completed medical school and a residency in general internal medicine at the University of Alberta. He then specialized in cardiology, becoming Chief Cardiology Resident at the University of Alberta, before doing his Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Harvard University’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He subsequently became a Clinical Scholar in Interventional Cardiology at McMaster University where he also received his Master of Science in Health Research Methodology.
Dr. Bainey’s research interests include optimizing reperfusion strategies in ST-elevation myocardial infarction and population health outcomes in acute coronary syndromes.
