A visiting scientist at Baim, Dr Bainey is an interventional cardiologist and Director of
the Adult Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Cardiology Laboratory at the
Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada.
He is also an Associate Professor of Medicine there and a faculty member of the
Virtual Coordinating Centre for Global Collaborative Cardiovascular Research
(VIGOUR). He serves as the director of the ECG Core Laboratory at VIGOUR.
Dr. Bainey’s research interests include optimizing reperfusion strategies in ST
segment elevation myocardial infarction, PCI, and population health outcomes in
acute coronary syndromes.
After medical school and a residency in general internal medicine at the
University of Alberta, Dr. Bainey specialized in cardiology at the University of Alberta and completed an interventional cardiology fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. At McMaster University, he received a Master’s degree in
Health Research Methodology.
