Leigh Perreault, MD, FACE, FACP is an endocrinologist and Associate Professor of Medicine striving to transform our current approach to weight management and type 2 diabetes. Dr. Perreault graduated from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine, and completed her residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes at the University of Colorado where she has remained on faculty for the past 22 years. Dr. Perreault’s research has focused on diabetes prevention in people with prediabetes for the majority of her time at the University, most notably as co-investigator on the Diabetes Prevention Program Outcomes Study (DPPOS). More recently, she developed and pilot tested a novel tool for weight management called PATHWEIGH. Dr. Perreault is now leading the implementation of PATHWEIGH across the UCHealth care system and is the Co-Principal Investigator of the National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded award to study its efficacy and use. She has a robust record of publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, as well as a chapter in Diabetes In America, the flagship online book put forward by the National Institutes of Health. Translation of research for the education of patients and health care providers is one of Dr. Perreault’s top priorities, and is readily evidenced by her dedicated patient care, authoring of the obesity section of UpToDate and speaking engagements across the globe.
